Cuttack

Cuttack, often labelled as the Business capital of Odisha, is the oldest and the second largest city of the state. The birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Biju Patnaik, the city started as a military cantonment and was ruled by multiple rulers and boasts of rich glorious history.

Situated at the apex of the Mahanadi River delta, Cuttack is also called as the 'Millennium City' and the 'Silver City' owing to its old history and popular silver filigree works. The good rail and road connections of the Cuttack with other Indian cities, especially Kolkata, makes it an important trade center and a river port.

Famous for monuments, sculptures and monuments, Cuttack has a tropical climate and has chemical, handicrafts, textile and leather industries, making it a hub of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises(MSME) industries. The city enjoys a tropical climate and Durga Puja is one of the most important festivals.

Oriya is the official language of Cuttack and people here also speak Hindi and English. The city is famous for delicacies like Dahibadas, Aaludam, Mutton Chop and Rasogullas. One of the most visited cities of the Southeastern coastlines, Cuttack attracts a large number of tourists.

Some of the favourite tourist destinations in the city are Netaji Birth Place Museum, Cuttack Chandi Temple, Barabati Stadium, Deer Park, Maritime museum, Mundali Barrage in Naraj, Barabati fort, Dhabaleswar temple and Jobra barrage. Bali Jatra is one of the largest trade fairs is organised in Cuttack, which sees a footfall of 4-5 lakh people on a daily basis.
